FAQs

  • How long will it take my unit(s) to ship?

These benchtop units are in stock and ready to leave our warehouse within 48 hours.

  • Which heating circulator should I choose?

When selecting a heating circulator, you’ll want to consider the size of your vessel or bath tank, the temperature range, pump pressure, flow rate, heating capacity, whether you’re doing open- or closed-loop circulation, and your ideal time-to-temperature. The JULABO team can help with your calculations, considerations, and finding a circulator to meet your needs. Get a free consultation or give us a call.

  • Do I need a refrigerated heating circulator, and how do I choose one?

If you want to go below 20°C or ambient temperature, you’ll want a circulator with refrigeration. Refrigerated circulators allow you to set, maintain, and control temperatures in a bath or to an externally connected application. You’ll want to consider the cooling capacity and the temperature range, as well as the type of application you’re doing, your ideal-time-to-temperature, and other factors such as flow rate, pump pressure, and whether the circulator can support an automated workflow. The JULABO team can help with your calculations, considerations, and finding a circulator to meet your needs. Get a free consultation or give us a call.

  • Do the HighTech heating and refrigerated heating circulators have external temperature control?

Yes, all of our HighTech benchtop circulators have a built-in port for a Pt100 sensor.

  • What type of external communication is available for the HighTech heating circulators and refrigerated heating circulators?

All of the HighTech Circulators come with an RS232 port built in, certain models have a standard RS485 port that allows you to connect to a computer for remote control and operation.

  • Do the circulators have an adjustable pump?

Yes, the HighTech heating circulator and refrigerated heating circulators include an adjustable, 4-speed pressure and suction pump. The centrifugal pressure/suction pump provides a 22-26 L/min flow rate with pressures from 5.8-10.2 psi and suction from 2.9-5.8 psi. The smart-pump adjusts speeds based on changes in the fluid’s viscosity.

  • What are the JULABO circulator baths made of?

The circulator bath tanks are made of high-grade stainless steel and come in a variety of sizes. They also include bath covers with an ergonomic handle for easy removal and access to the bath.

  • How much space should I allow in the lab for a heating or refrigerated heating circulator?

The HighTech heating and refrigerated heating circulators are designed for benchtop work and can be positioned next to other applications or equipment. They can also be easily connected to external applications using insulated tubing or hosing. The HighTech models are easy to lift, move, and position in your lab, taking up little space and offering compact operations. The exact weight and dimensions of the unit vary based on the model.

  • What are JULABO heating circulators used for?

Heating circulators are used for various applications, including warming reagents, warming and thawing samples, sample incubation, material testing, distillation, solvent recovery, viscometer temperature control, mass spectrometry temperature control, and much more. If you need to heat, warm, or thaw a sample, material, or application, a heating circulator can help.

  • What are JULABO refrigerated heating circulators used for?

Refrigerated heating circulators are used to cool, chill, and remove heat from samples, materials, applications, and other laboratory equipment. Circulators with refrigeration are used for sample incubation; material testing; molds and extrusions; analytical instrumentation and component testing; and external temperature control for rotary evaporators, jacketed reactors, fermenters, viscometers, rheometers, photometers, refractormeters, chromatography columns, and more.

  • What is proportional refrigeration, and how does it work?

In most refrigeration systems, the compressor kicks on, and the system is either 100% on or 100% off, like the refrigerator in your kitchen. Proportional refrigeration control adjusts the amount of cooling power based on the application load, reducing stress on the compressor, extending the life of the system, and lowering energy consumption.

  • What sort of fluids can I use in the JULABO circulators?

JULABO heating and refrigerated circulators allow you to transfer heat using various liquids and fluids, including water for some applications up to 90°C. Thermal fluids such as silicone and flourinet/gladen are compatible with our circulators and baths.
